Vanguard High School

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

Rootz is back at Vanguard High School for a second year!

Vanguard is one of the six schools located in the Julia Roberts complex on the upper east side of Manhattan. Working with Vanguard veteran teacher Adrienne Almeida, our weekly Wednesday class runs almost two hours; plenty of time to include both media literacy and radio production activities.

With a class of 9 students we are digging in deep; exploring media at its roots and learning to create our own.

We are looking forward to a year of exciting discussions and creative story telling. We also have implemented an in-school approach to our each-one, teach-one model, with the students from last year's Radio Rootz class serving as mentors to this year's group. The experienced students gain class credit and the new students get the benefit of peer learning and support.
