Rootz teaching crew: Senior Teachers & Youth Peer Trainers

Radio Rootz teaches radio journalism and media literacy to middle school and high school students in public schools throughout New York City and Washington D.C. Students are engaged through hands on radio production and critical analysis of the media.

They produce quality journalistic pieces that speak about their lives and society as they develop marketable technical skills, leadership skills, and civic engagement.

Through year-long and shorter residency programs, Radio Rootz trainers co-teach alongside the classroom teacher to integrate the Radio Rootz curriculum with classroom curricula and State Standards.

In 2008-2009, Radio Rootz will be teaching in the following schools:

Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School (Brooklyn)

Gotham Professional Arts Academy (Brooklyn)

School for Global Studies (Brooklyn)

Manhattan Comprehensive High School (Manhattan)

Vanguard High School (Manhattan)
