Manhattan Comprehensive students, Lisha Mo, Zhong Cheng Zhu, and Meiling Jin, were there to speak to students and report about the student-led demonstration. This headline was filed for Free Speech Radio News by Radio Rootz instructor, Jacqueline Kook, and Lisha Mo.
Hi, I’m Michael Florencia I was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on May 18
1990. I graduated High School in my country and now I’m going to high
school and learning English in USA. One of my passions is playing the
guitar. I’m a member of 2 bands.
My goal is to learn English very well and attend college. I would
like to become a sound engineer and own my own record label. I had a
great experience this year at Radio Rootz and hope to continue with
them for many years.
I was born in the year 1990 in Ecuador. Living in Ecuador was fun. I had a lot of friends and family, but I decided to move the United States 2007. Here, I live with my aunts and older brother. I currently attend Manhattan Compressive High School. One of the things I enjoyed most this school year was participating in Radio Rootz, where I got the chance to interview people about different topics. I also got to go to different events like the Grassroots Media conference and meet a lot of people. My future plans are to be an English teacher.

I’m Wilmer Aucancela. I was born in Ecuador. I moved to New York in 2007 to continue my studies. My life completely changed when I moved here. Back home, education was just simply education. Now, I appreciate learning new things. I currently attend Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School. This year, I took Radio Rootz classes. I like Radio Rootz because I get the chance to practice my English and get to know myself a little more. I feel more important, as a person in my new home New York City.
