Wednesday, July 30th at 11:00am there will be a briefing from the Mayor's Office and Diamond Consultants for the Broadband Advisory Committee regarding the Bloomberg Administration's plans for bridging the digital divide in New York City. The meeting is open to the public and will take place in the Committee of the Whole Room, City Hall, New York, NY.
In 2005, the Broadband Advisory Committee was established to advise the Mayor and the City Council of New York on how the City government could stimulate the private market to offer New Yorkers more options for high-speed Internet access. Since the committee was started, hearings have been held in all Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens to help raise awareness of the varied broadband and communication technologies available and also to allow New York City residents to voice their thoughts on how the digital divide in New York can be closed.
Diamond Consultants was hired by the NYC Economic Development Corporation to help the measure the digital divide in New York and to develop programs that will bring about greater digital inclusion. Chris O'Brien from Diamond Consultants will detail their findings and recommendations for the City.
Please join PPH in attending this meeting.
