The Leadership Training Institute prepares graduates of the Radio Rootz program to become trainers themselves, as well as leaders in their communities and schools!

Students who have completed the Summer Media Organizing Project are eligible to be a Leadership Training Institute Fellow, preparing them to lead the summer internship as peer trainers and coordinators. LTI is a series of workshops and seminars that not only prepares them to take on new leadership roles as trainers, but also challenges them to reach the next level in their media literacy, media organizing, and radio skills.

Through a series of workshops and seminars, Institute Fellows build on their radio production and media literacy skills and become equipped with leadership and training skills. Fellows are also introduced to new topics such as community organizing and media policy.

Fellows have the opportunity to put these skills into practice and gain work experience as Peer Trainers of the Summer Media Organizing Project.
