Creating a New Menu

A menu can link to many things. The most common being:
Section (blog view layout)
A blog view of anything under the Section that you define. You will be selecting from a list of Sections that are already created.
Category (blog view layout)
A blog view of anything under the Category that you define. You will be selecting from a list of categories that are already created.
Article Layout
A link to any article.
The above mentioned should have already been created before creating a menu and linking to them. If you haven't already done so, go back and create them before proceeding.
Creating a New Menu
The first thing you will need to do is login to the admin area. Go To: (http://www.peoplesproductionhouse.org/administrator) Then you will be carried to the login screen. Type your login name and password in, and click the login button.
Now you will see the Control Panel interface. Go to the top of the Joomla window, and you will see "Site", "Menus", etc. Click on Menu. The Menu window will drop down and you will need to click on Menu Manager. Now you will see a list of menus that you already have on your site. If you wish to delete them, simply click the circle beside the menu and click delete.
Click the New button at the top right hand corner. You will see Copy, Edit, Delete, New, and Help. Click on the New button (It's the little (+) sign). The next page that pops up is the menu details page. You will need to enter the name of your menu first. This is the name that Joomla will ID this menu with. Give an appropriate name for the Menu, one that you can remember and that identifies with what items are part of the menu.
You will be carried back to the Menu Manager page. You can edit the menu name by clicking on the name of the menu. Now you can start adding items to your menu by clicking Menu > whatever you named your menu. On the next page click the New button at the top right hand corner. Then you will be carried to another page where you will choose what type of menu item you want.
(Most likely between Section, Category, or Article.)
After saving your menu, a Module is created. Go to: Extensions > Module manager to enable and position it.
Remember, the Module is named what you added in the "Module Title" Field at the beginning of the menu creation process.
While at the Module Manager, you'll notice there tons of modules so you might want to filter through them by typing the name of the menu/module you've created.
Once found. select it and you'll be taken to it's parameters view.
check off the appropriate settings.
"Enable" (on)
Choose whether or not you want to show the module title.
It's up to you to determine the "Menu Assignment"
you can choose between: "All" "None" & "Select Menu Item(s) from the List"
What you'll be doing is choosing where you want the Menu Module to appear.
Once you've chosen hit Save and you should be all done!
