Today is Christmas, and Santa isn't the only one spying on us. On this day, December 25, in 1977, the results of a 3 month investigation regarding the CIA was released. Over those last 20 years, the CIA owned or subsidized more than 50 newspapers, news services, radio stations, and periodicals, most of them overseas. At its peak, the CIA's network included 800 news and public information organizations, and were used for propaganda efforts, and even as cover up for operations. At least 22 American news organizations had employed American journalists who were working for the CIA.
